Leanne Morrison is based in Hastings and has exhibited in both the North and South Island however this will be the first major showing of her work here at home.

An unconventional painting process, working flat and using a spray gun and air-compressor, Morrison uses her practice to consider how line and colour interact to expand the physical dimensions of the flat canvas.

Layering broad bands of colour atop one another to create subtle variations in hue, tone and texture, these forms start to intersect with each other, creating new areas of interest. Illusionary space appears as perceived depth within the painting and as planes extending beyond the canvas edges, into which the coloured quadrilateral forms extend.

Made up of mostly old and some new works, Morrison is inviting the viewer into the heart of her practice, a chance to experience the striking qualities of these simple paintings in the beautiful surroundings of Hastings and Arts Inc. Heretaunga.
