EXHIBITION - Lisa Jackson

Lisa Jackson is an emerging photo-poet based in New Zealand. With a background in nursing and a lifelong struggle to be seen and heard, her work explores themes of emotional suppression, invisibility, and fragile moments of self-reclamation. 'Flickers of Light' as part of Fotofest 2025 was her first public exhibition.

Her 'Flickers of Light' photo series explored the quiet disintegration of self through emotional invisibility, internal collapse, and the jarring contrast between appearance and truth. Beginning in stark black and white with images of concealment and fading, the series shifted into chaotic, oversaturated color — flickers of attempted joy that overwhelm rather than soothe. What starts as hope ends in retreat.

Shot and edited entirely on a mobile phone, 'Flickers of Light' was an act of quiet resistance.
