Two well-known local businesses have been confirmed as sponsors of the 2016 Summer Concert Series. Havelock North New World returns for a second year as key sponsor of Jazz on Village Green and iconic ice cream maker, Rush Munro’s have also come on board as an  event sponsor.

Running for five weeks from the end of January, the Summer Series will feature ten free concerts, spread over two venues – Summer in the Parks in Cornwall Park, Hastings and Jazz on the Village Green at the Havelock North Domain.

Now into its 16th year, Summer in the Parks continues to grow in popularity with some of last summer’s events attracting up to 2,000 people. A relatively new addition to the calendar, Jazz in the Village Green is set to return to the Havelock North Domain after a very successful inaugural season in 2015. Between the two venues, the ten concerts will feature approximately 75 local and out-of-town musicians.

Rush Munro’s General Manager, Chantelle Ramage says it’s important to support Hawke’s Bay community events and Rush Munro’s is a natural partnership given its long history in the region.

“Rush Munro’s is proud to support events in Hawke’s Bay which bring the community together and attract people to our region to enjoy a fun day out. We need to drive popular events so we can celebrate all that Hawke’s Bay has to offer.”

Community Arts Development Manager for Creative Hastings, Pitsch Leiser, says they are delighted to be teaming up with Rush Munro’s for this event. “The Summer Series is about getting people out and about, enjoying our beautiful parks and listening to great music while making the most of our Hawke’s Bay summers. Ice-cream goes hand in hand with that experience.”

In conjunction with the sponsorship, Rush Munro’s will be selling their 100% natural ice cream from a purpose built ice cream caravan at each of the ten concerts. “We are very excited about our new Rush Munro’s caravan which will help us deliver natural goodness to more events and places around the Bay,” says Ms Ramage.

Mr Leiser urges people to pack a picnic and get along to the parks to enjoy the Summer Concert Series. “It’s fantastic to be able to offer ten concerts featuring such a wide variety and high calibre of acts, without having to charge an entry fee,” he says. “This is only made possible thanks to the generous support of local businesses and trusts.”
