Artist profile: Mary Jessie Sullivan

Mary is an artist working from her home studio and gallery by the sea at Haumoana and can be found creating heavily textured abstract seascapes and landscapes with found materials mixed with paint and modelling compounds.

 

Mary’s other medium is wax. She produces abstract and often heavily textured pieces using organic materials such as beeswax, pigment, graphite, oils, ink and shellac, heating them for the process of encaustic wax on wood.
