Frank Pitiera Wainohu is a Hastings-based artist, born and raised, working as a carver and sculptor with an established art practice. Frank’s works are installed in public, educational, and community spaces across Heretaunga and the wider Hawke’s Bay region. His practice is grounded in land, genealogy, and community narratives, and draws on storytelling while engaging contemporary public art contexts.

Frank’s current and completed public installations include Ngā Pou o Heretaunga in Hastings Civic Square, six carved pou at Pakipaki School, a waharoa at Raureka School, and most recently a Pou Atawhai at Hastings Central School. Each of these works has been developed in collaboration with the respective communities and is designed to be durable, accessible, and meaningful within everyday public settings.
